An Overview of Safe Pregnancy Medications

While no medications have been tested on pregnant women, many have been used with such frequency that we feel comfortable recommending them to relieve symptoms.   You can take the medication according to the package instructions.  Always feel free to call us and speak to a nurse about concerns or questions.

Nausea:

Vitamin B-6 100mg twice a day

Unisom

Headache:

Drink some caffeine

Extra-Strength Tylenol

Constipation:

Mira-Lax powder

Dulcolax

Any Stool softener

Warmed prune juice

Diarrhea:

Immodium AD

Heartburn:

Zantac 150mg twice a day

Tums (good for extra calcium too)

Hemorrhoids:

Preparation H suppositories

Tucks pads

Allergies:

Zyrtec

Claritin

Benadryl

Cough/Cold:

Tylenol Sinus

Robitussin (any)

Mucinex (any)

Delsym

Benadryl

Decongestants sparingly and only if your blood pressure has not been high in the office

Ocean Spray

No aspirin or products with aspirin

Nosebleeds:

Ocean Spray up the nostrils to moisten

Then Vaseline on a Q-tip to lubricate nostrils.
