Breast Cancer Overview

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from the cells of the breast, typically in the milk ducts or glands of the breast. The most common symptom of breast cancer is a small or confined tumor which presents itself as a lump. If found early through breast cancer screening, breast cancer has an excellent survival rate.  Later stages of breast cancer occur when the cancer spreads through channels to the lymph nodes or through the blood stream to other organs. Breast cancer is typically treated using one or a combination of treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. It is found mostly in women, but men can get breast cancer too.
