Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Irritable bowel syndrome—or IBS as it is often referred to—is a broad term used to describe discomfort or chronic abdominal pain in the gastro-intestinal tract. Many people with IBS are able to function normally but do experience common discomforts such as abdominal cramps, bloating, diarrhea and modification of bowel movements. More than 55 million Americans are diagnosed with IBS each year and although the causes are not exactly known, treatments are available to relieve symptoms.
